Leicester Tigers winger Adam Thompstone is already dreaming of a possible Premiership title win when the league resumes. The Tigers were impressive in the 2016/17 season so they hope to achieve more in the forthcoming season.
Thompstone featured in 30 games where he ran eight tries. He was eventually voted the Players’ Player of the Year for his feats and consistency. The player, like his teammates, feels they should have done more than their playoff semi-final finish. Wasps ended their run with a victory so Thompstone feels it would serve as a solid foundation when they make a strong title push next season.
“It was a turbulent season and it was good to get there, it’s just a shame we couldn’t get to the final, which was the goal. It was a tough season but next season we can come back stronger. We are in a good place and we can only improve from there,” the star was quoted to have said.
Pre-season training started last week as the team is gearing up for a better season. Thompstone said like the others he enjoyed the downtime with family and friends. He said the pre-season was important for the side as it is when they sit with the coaches and discuss, planning for the whole season.
TheTigers are poised to face Bath in the opening fixture after the Premiership season fixtures were released. The new coach Matt O’Connor has to get the team blazing in all directions again ahead of the September fixture at Welford Road. Next is the visit to Northampton Saints before hosting Gloucester.
Bath at Twickenham, Northampton Saints, Newcastle Falcons and Sale Sharks are the last four fixtures which could be crucial in the playoff race.
